An image captured by Springfield sports and entertainment photographer Michael Cignoli has once again been voted the Ozarks Sports Zone Photo of the Week.

The photograph of an Ozark baseball player celebrating a double earned the honors for the period ending May 1, 2021. It’s the fifth time during the 2020-21 school year that one of Cignoli’s photos has earned the most votes in the weekly poll, with at least one winning in each of the three sports seasons.

Cignoli captured photos of athletes from Marionville, Warsaw and Springfield Catholic that won the weekly poll in the fall, and an image of a Logan-Rogersville basketball player won in the winter.

Each week, O-Zone staffers analyze the hundreds of photos captured by their network of photographers and select five finalists for Photo of the Week. The nominees are posted in a poll at OzarksSportsZone.com and website visitors vote to decide the winner.
