Championship Picture Voted O-Zone's Photo of the Week

For the third time in the past six weeks, one of freelance photographer Michael Cignoli's pictures has been voted the Ozarks Sports Zone Photo of the Week.

The image of the Marionville High School football team celebrating its victory over Lockwood on Friday, November 13, was voted the top photo for the period ending November 14, 2020. The Comets beat the Tigers to win the school's first district championship in six years.

Cignoli’s photo was chosen out of more than 825 images that photographers captured for Ozarks Sports Zone at 15 local high school athletic events during the week. He previously took first place with a photo from a Springfield Catholic volleyball game on October 6 and won the contest again with a photo of a Warsaw football player celebrating a touchdown on October 20.

Each week, O-Zone staffers analyze the hundreds of photos captured by their network of photographers and select five finalists for Photo of the Week. The nominees are posted in a poll at OzarksSportsZone.com and website visitors vote to decide the winner.
